Values and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
The volunteer program is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion and to learning. We believe in self-reflective volunteerism that is in partnership with our community members. We believe in doing with students not doing for students.
What values do you bring that contribute to our commitment to advancing equity?
*
The volunteer program takes our definition of equity from the definition proposed by the Independent Sector (independentsector.org): Equity is the fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all people, while at the same time striving to identify and eliminate barriers that have prevented the full participation of some groups. Improving equity involves increasing justice and fairness within the procedures and processes of institutions, as well as in the distribution of resources. Tackling equity issues requires an understanding of the root causes of outcome disparities within our society.
Why are you excited about volunteering with us and contributing to our mission?
