The Art of Finishing

Do you have three quarters of a novel? Eighteen first scenes of stories? A dozen half-poems? Like everything else, finishing projects is a skill that can be taught. We'll cover common barriers to finishing, the joy of crappy first drafts, and provide each student a roadmap for finishing that thing they've been meaning to finish.

Instructor: Marie Vibbert's work has appeared in Analog, Asimov's, F&SF, and many other professional publications. Her short story "Keep Talking" won Apex Magazine's Story of the Year. Marie is a software developer in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended the Clarion writer's workshop in 2013 and joined the Science Fiction Writers of America in 2014. She belongs to the Cleveland Science Fiction writer's workshop headed by Mary Turzillo. She also has been a lineman for the Cleveland Fusion women's tackle football team and has ridden 18% of the roller coasters in North America.

Details: The Art of Finishing takes place Thursday, September 22 and Thursday, September 29 from 6:30-8:30pm in person at Lake Erie Ink, 2843 Washington Blvd., Cleveland Heights, OH 44118.
