Nonfiction Book Proposal Workshop

Join published author Sarah Lohman for an introductory workshop on putting together a nonfiction book proposal, getting your proposal published, and the ins and outs of the publishing process. We’ll go over how to:

  • Develop your idea
  • Compose a book proposal
  • Find an agent

As well as:

  • What happens when your book is bought
  • The highs and lows of the writing process
  • The importance of fact checking and footnoting
  • What to expect leading up to you publish date

This class is for you if you are: a nonfiction writer or someone interested in nonfiction writing and relatively new at writing books and proposals. We will not be talking about self-publishing or publishing fiction.

Sarah will share her own experiences. provide helpful handouts, and there will be plenty of time for questions. Come with a book idea you're willing to workshop. Bring a laptop (fully charged), because we're going to get some work done in class. You'll also receive homework assignments to complete between sessions that will bring you closer to completing a submittable book proposal. We'll share them in class and Sarah will offer one-on-one feedback.

Non-Fiction Book Proposal Workshop takes place Saturdays 2/15-2/29 from 10:00am-12:00pm at Loganberry Books (13015 Larchmere Blvd., Shaker Heights, Ohio 44120).
