One moment please...

Mike's Hikes 4.2.2024: Sunset at Elephant Hill

Join us for a 2.5 to 3 mile moderately strenuous hike to the top of Elephant Hill. Some sections of this hike are steep. Find out why WSCC is working to add protections to this area as an ACEC (Area of Critical Environmental Concern). Enjoy spectacular views, solitude and sunset in this very special area. We will look for signs of spring, identifying plant life and birds along the way. We will need to carpool so please meet at the WSCC office by 4:30pm.

Difficulty: Moderately stenuous. Might be muddy.

What to bring: Please make sure to wear sturdy hiking shoes, dress in layers, and bring water and snacks. Trekking poles may be quite helpful. This trail can be muddy if moisture is present. Note this is an evening hike to enjoy the sunset views so a headlamp or flashlight may be necessary, although we will try to be most of the way down before dark.

Time: Meet at WSCC office (204 Poplar Ave. Paonia, CO) at 4:30 pm.

Sorry, no dogs are allowed on this hike.

Please, only one person per sign-up form. Thank you!!
