Tour de Fleurs: Volunteer Sign Up

Sign up to volunteer at the second annual Tour de Fleurs community bike ride!

When: Sun, March 26 from 1-5pm (some volunteer shifts start earlier/end later )

Where: all volunteers will report to the Bike Works Shop at the start of their shift (3709 S Ferdinand St, Seattle, WA 98118)

 

Volunteer shifts

  • Opening (FULL)
    • Shift time: 12-2pm
    • Help with setup
  • Checkpoint Host (10 ppl)
    • Shift time: 1-4pm
    • Facilitate checkpoint activities and sign rider manifests + assist riders as needed. Most checkpoints will involve arts and crafts, but the details will remain a surprise until the day of!
    • Meet at the Bike Works Shop (3709 S Ferdinand St) at 1pm to get supplies and head to checkpoints
    • Remain at checkpoints from 2-4pm. Checkpoint locations will be shared on the day of the ride.
  • Closing (1-2 ppl)
    • Shift time: 3:30-6pm
    • Tally scores at the end of the ride and support with clean up

 

What to expect

Volunteers can expect to carry some light supplies and to bike up to 3 miles to reach their checkpoints (locations will be shared on the day of the ride). Please bring a backpack or a way to carry things on you/your bike. 

Volunteers will be at outdoor checkpoints for 2hrs+, and should dress appropriately for the weather.

  • Restrooms: at Bike Works at the beginning and end of the ride. You are welcome to stop into nearby businesses or use public restrooms as needed
  • Food: provided at Bike Works at the end of the ride ~4pm. Please bring your own snacks if you need them
  • Breaks: you are welcome to sit or rest while waiting for riders at your checkpoint station. Feel free to bring blankets, chairs, water, snacks, etc. anything you need to feel comfortable for your volunteer shift

Liability Waiver (please read)
  1. I acknowledge that I understand the nature of Bike Works activities outside of Bike Works (“Activities”) and warrant that I am qualified, in good health, and in proper physical condition to participate in such Activities.

  2. I acknowledge that some Activities occur on public roads and other facilities on which the risks of travel are to be expected.  These “RISKS” include MINOR INJURIES, SERIOUS BODILY INJURIES, PERMANENT DISABILITY, PARALYSIS, OR DEATH.  These Risks may be caused by my actions or inactions as well as the actions or inactions of others participating in the Activities.

  3. I RELEASE, COVENANT NOT TO SUE, and HOLD HARMLESS Bike Works, their volunteers, employees and sponsors, as well as other participants (“Releasees”) for any and all liability related to Activities caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the Releasees.  I further agree that if, despite this release, I, or anyone on my behalf, make such claim against any of the Releases, I will indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees from any and all costs they incur as the result of such claim including, but not limited to, attorney fees and costs.

  4. In case of an emergency, I hereby authorize and give permission to any physician, hospital, health care provider, or other medical personnel selected by the staff of Bike Works to provide prompt medical treatment and arrange necessary related transportation. I agree that, once I am in the care of medical personnel or a medical facility, Bike Works shall have no further responsibility for me and I agree to pay all costs associated with such medical care and transportation. 

  5. I understand that participating in rides with Bike Works is a privilege.  It is my responsibility to ride and behave safely at all times. I will practice safe work habits and safe riding habits including wearing a helmet when riding to, from, or on Bike Works programs.

  6. If I choose to bring a minor as a Parent/Guardian, I also agree to sign the terms of this waiver on behalf of a minor. I further agree to HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFY Bike Works and Releasees from all liability, claims and causes of action which the minor may have arising from the minor’s participation in activities.

  7. I understand that we are still in a pandemic. I will protect myself and others and follow all laws and best practices to keep everyone safe. I will stay home if I am are not feeling well.
