Pitch Intensive

The key to a winning query is understanding and articulating your book's audience. Brandi Larsen has been on both sides of the publishing table, and, in this fast-paced four-week workshop, she'll help you revise your query letter with a focus on your book's pitch, comps, and audience. Attendees will share and receive feedback on their work, starting in the first session with their book's once-sentence hook. Attendees will be expected to upload a first draft of their query letter by Friday, October 15, with more details provided following registration.

Please Note: Due to the pace, this course is open only to attendees who are ready to query literary agents for the adult trade market, in fiction and non-fiction. Writers working in poetry, children's/YA, or the religous or academic markets will not benefit. Attendees should have a current polished manuscript or book proposal upon entering the intensive.

Instructor: Brandi Larsen is a writer, speaker, and coach building a more inclusive publishing landscape. Her work at Penguin Random House helped create NYT bestsellers and her journalism pieces earned Emmy nominations. Her talks about publishing, leadership, and grief inspire audiences from Zoom to Harvard. She serves as the board president for Literary Cleveland and writes books and essays. UNCULTURED is forthcoming from St. Martin's. Read more at: BrandiLarsen.com.

Details: Pitch Intensive takes place Thursdays October 21 & 28 and November 4 & 11 from 12-1pm remotely through Zoom.
