Volunteer Interest Form

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Mount Pisgah Arboretum! Thanks to the dedication of volunteers like you, our community, education programs, and environmental stewardship can all continue to grow and thrive.

Volunteer Opportunities

Please find a brief description of our various volunteer programs and opportunities:

Education:
Our education program is the most robust at the Arboretum. We host school field trips year-round, summer camps, and other guided nature tours every weekend. Volunteers in the education program lead these trips and share their knowledge, and love, of the Arboretum with participants. Please note, the "Field Trip Nature Guide" volunteer position is within the Education Program but is specific for the year-round school field trips and requires direct training.

Habitat and Lands:
Help us steward the lands, habitats, and spaces throughout the Arboretum! We host regular work parties to take care of these special spaces and can always use more helping hands. No prior experience is required.

David's Chair:
One of the newest programs at the Arboretum is David's Chair -- free, reservable all terrain track chairs to help more people access more parts of the Arboretum. These volunteers join our David's Chair pit crew to help check the chairs in and out.

Park Ambassador:
Park Ambassador volunteers keep our parking lots safe while also acting as a community resource to Arboretum visitors.

Memorial Bench Building:
People who come to the Arboretum create their own unique relationships with the land and their families honor these connections after their loved one passes by donating Memorial Benches to the Arboretum. Volunteers for this program help build these benches or maintain them.

Office:
As a small team, we can always use help keeping things up-to-date and organized. Office voluteers help with our databases and do other organizing tasks.

Festivals:
We hold two festivals every year, the fall Mushroom Festival and springtime Wildflower Festival. Volunteer opportunities are varied during these events, but can include working booths, directing guests, or setting up the event.
