SF Hillel Grocery, Rent, and Mental Health Assistance Application
SF Hillel is grateful to be able to offer our students emergency grocery, rent, and mental health assistance thanks to a generous grant from the San Francisco Jewish Community Federation & Endowment Fund.
We have limited funds to provide to students each month, so we encourage you to ask only for what you need. If you do not receive funds one month, we encourage you to apply again the next month if you are still in need.
As of re-opening this form on April 22, due to limited funds, we will only be able to grant up to $250 per student, until our funds are depleted.
Information on applying:
- On average, we are not able to provide more than $500 per student per month, and available funds depend on the number of applications each month. If your need exceeds $500, you are welcome to apply for more, but we cannot guarantee that the full amount requested will be granted. If you are in need of more assistance, please reach out to Sarah Birch (sarah@sfhillel.org) for help getting connected with other financial assistance resources.
- We will only grant money to each student a maximum of 3 times per year and will give priority to students who have not yet recieved funds.
- Grocery assistance will be provided in the form of a gift card to the indicated grocery store.
- Rent assistance will be provided in the form of a check. If you are selected to recieve rent assistance, SF Hillel will reach out to you to have you fill out a w-9 form. Depending on the amount granted, you may have to pay taxes on the funds provided.
- This year, we have a limited amount of funds allocated to support students in need of financial assistance to cover the cost of mental health services. Please reach out to Sarah Birch (sarah@sfhillel.org) for more information. Financial assistance for mental health services will be provided in the form of a check. If you are selected to recieve rent assistance, SF Hillel will reach out to you to have you fill out a w-9 form. Depending on the amount granted, you may have to pay taxes on the funds provided. In addition to these funds, we have a partnership with San Francisco's Jewish Family and Children's Services who can provide a limited number of students with free counseling services.
-While all information in your application will be kept confidential, information you share in your application may be anonymously used to promote SF Hillel's work in addressing basic needs and encouraging funders to continue to support this program.
