DayGlo 2024 Application

Waterloo Arts is selecting 30-40 artists to create new work for the annual DayGlo show, which opens March 1, 2024 and closes March 30. Participating artists will receive a supply of DayGlo paint, courtesy of the DayGlo Color Corp and the exhibit will be displayed in black light.

The theme of the 2024 DayGlo Show is "How Does Your Garden Glo?"

NEW THIS YEAR - Eric Anthony Berdis whose work was recently exhibited in the Waterloo Arts gallery, will be Waterloo Arts' first DayGlo artist-in-residence. Berdis will conduct several public workshops throughout the duration of the DayGlo exhibit. More information on Berdis' work can be found here

Important Dates:
Application Deadline: January 1
Artists notified via email: January 6
Paint pick up: January 13
Work drop off: By February 24
Opening Reception: March 1
Exhibit closes: March 30

We require at least three images of previous work. The more information, the better. If it is not obvious how you would use DayGlo paint from images of your previous work, please indicate your plan in the comment area of the application.

Space is limited and in order to allow new artists an opportunity to participate, acceptance into past DayGlo exhibits and submitting this application of interest doesn't guarantee acceptance into the show. Artists will be notified either way on January 6. Please email gallery@waterlooarts.org with any questions.  Thank you for your interest.

Any additional information you can provide regarding the artwork you plan to make with the DayGlo paint is helpful. We don't need exact details but it is helpful, for instance, to know if you plan to make 3D work and any thoughts on how you might execute that. Or if you think you will be printing, painting or illustrating. We sometimes have access to DayGlo powder pigment but mostly we will be providing latex paint. If you are in need of the pigment in a form other than paint, please let us know here.
