2025 Exhibition Proposals

Toe River Arts has two exhibition spaces in Spruce Pine, the Kokol Gallery and, on the second floor, the Owen Gallery which displays 2D work only. The Kokol gallery is approx. 1280 sq.ft., the Owen gallery is approx. 900 sq. ft. Once a year we accept exhibition proposals for the following year. 

Please visit the Spruce Pine location to familiarize yourself with the spaces before submitting your proposal. You do not need to be a member and we accept both local and nationally recognized artists . Exhibitions can feature one or more artists, or an arts organization. Cooperative exhibits that include 2D and 3D work are encouraged.

• If submitting a proposal with more than one artist (a collaborative exhibit), all participating artist information must be included in the proposal, along with pertinent data requested in the application and high resolution (no less than 300 dpi) digital images of their work.
• If you are an organization submitting, we require high resolution digital images and pertinent information about your organization and all participating artists that reflect the intention of the exhibit.

The Exhibit Agreement will tell you what responsibilities are expected from both Toe River Arts and the artist. 

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Acceptance of proposals is decided by a panel of artists, Toe River Arts staff, and knowledgeable and interested members. This panel changes yearly. Toe River Arts maintains the right of refusal of any or all proposals. Toe River Arts may make suggestions to help make your exhibition fit Toe River Arts exhibition standards.

Please do so at time of application submission or application will be considered incomplete. Please include resumes and artist statements for all artists to be exhibited.

Please submit images that are representive of the work you intend to exhibit. Please include title, media and retail value for all images submitted for review. If submitting a proposal for an organization or a collaborative exhibition, please include a minimum of one image from each artist or a group image. If you would like to submit more than the five images allowed below, please consolidate these images into a pdf or slideshow and submit under Image 1, and describe the file in the cooresponding description box. Please include the title, media and retail value for each pictured piece in your pdf or slideshow.

Organizational proposals should include images of group exhibitions and/or brochures and information about the organization. These should be submitted here, or found at a website provided above.
