2018 ConnecT1D Middle School Retreat Volunteer Application

 

VOLUNTEER APPLICATION 

Thank you for your interest in being a Middle School Retreat Volunteer! 

We have opportunities for the following volunteer positions:

  • Middle School Retreat Counselors (18+ years old) (overnight for full event)
  • Event Volunteers (single day or multiple days onsite, no overnight)
  • Medical Volunteers – MD, PA, RN, CDE, LNP, ARNP, etc.

Retreat Counselors work collaboratively to oversee campers (grades 6-8).  Lodging and meals will be provided for counselors.

Event Volunteers (there are just a few of these positions) assist with overall camp operations: registration, liaison with kitchen, meeting speakers, coordinating logistics onsite with the Camp Director, setting up snacks, etc). 

Medical Volunteers - We are seeking 3 medical volunteers, 1 for each day (24-hour period from 7 AM to 7 AM) of Camp in order to provide full time medical support on site to advise and support campers in diabetes care.  Medical volunteers will be covered for medical liability through the Volunteer and Retired Providers Program Lodging will be provided for medical volunteers in private rooms on site. In addition to providing basic care as required throughout the camp, Medical volunteers will be primarily responsible for checking blood glucose levels overnight and helping campers deal with lows or highs as appropriate. Medical volunteers will have staff support for overnight checks from the Camp Director and other counselors.

Application Process

  • Applications to volunteer will be available until July 15
  • All volunteers will be screened with a Washington State background check and notified of acceptance to volunteer by August 1
  • All counselors must complete a volunteer training at camp beginning at 1pm Sunday, August 19th immediately preceding the start of camp

Diabetes Experience

Note: You do not need to have diabetes to be a volunteer. All counselor volunteers will be trained in diabetes safety and monitoring of campers.

Registration Fees

There are no fees to attend Middle School Retreat as a volunteer. As an appreciation of your service we will provide group lodging, snacks, and meals.
