Join WSCC and staff from the Paonia Ranger District for a fieldtrip to the flanks of Mt. Lamborn where the USFS will be implementing prescribed burns over the next couple years as part of its Paonia Winter Wildlife Habitat Improvement Project. USFS personnel will be discussing project needs, treatments, and desired outcomes. We will be visiting past treatment areas to look at post-treatment conditions, and taking a short hike to two of the Town of Paonia springs to discuss protective measures. Sorry, no dogs allowed on this hike.
Difficulty: Moderate. The hike is about 2-3 miles mostly on jeep roads, and together with discussions about burn treatments and protective measures is expected to last 3-4 hours. We will be using 4WD/high clearance vehicles to approach the hiking area.
What to bring: Good boots, lots of water, sun protection, extra layers, hiking poles, and snacks.
Time: Depart at 8:30am from the USFS office at 403 Rio Grande Ave in Paonia.
PLEASE - only one person per form. If you are signing up for two or more people, please submit separate forms. Thank you
