Please read the following: By registering for the TLC Night Owl Bike Ride;
I understand and recognize that I, (or my child if signing as a parent for a child under age 18), will be participating in a bicycle ride, traveling on public streets and bicycle trails, beginning at 10:00 PM on August 6, 2022. I understand that I will be sharing public roads with motor vehicles, other participants and pedestrians. And I understand that engaging in such an activity has an inherent risk of damage or injury associated with it. I acknowledge that I am participating in this event entirely at my own risk. I acknowledge and agree that neither the City of Crystal Lake, nor the Village of Lakewood, nor the Crystal Lake Park District, nor the McHenry County Conservation District, nor The Land Conservancy of McHenry, nor the ride committee or its sponsors, nor any political subdivision through which the bicycle ride passes, shall be responsible for:
Any damage to my bicycle or any other property of mine, or
Any injury to myself, including death, sustained as a result of my participation in this event.
I hereby waive any rights I may have to sue any of the above listed entities with respect to personal injury or property damage suffered by myself or my child as a result of participation in this event and I hereby release said entities from any liability for such injury or damage to the fullest extent permissible by law. I have taken all necessary steps to ensure that I am adequately prepared for all possible contingencies, including safety equipment as may be required by law or that a prudent cyclist would consider available. Any reference to I or myself in this document shall include my child or children if I choose to sign this waiver as their parent/guardian.
I understand that an electronic signature has the same legal effect and can be enforced in the same way as a written signature.
