Development Specialist Application

Are you a development expert who wants to make a difference in the world? Bring your enthusiasm and talent to Jackson Chance Foundation (JCF), a Chicago-based foundation enriching the lives of families with babies in the neonatal intensive care unit. JCF provides complimentary parking passes to NICU families at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital, Northwestern Prentice Women’s Hospital, and Rush University Children’s Hospital. Over the last 10 years, JCF has supported over 13,000 families and provided 650,000 days of parking.

We are currently seeking an organized and energetic professional Development Specialist to work as a key member of our small but dynamic fundraising team to provide direct support to the development department with special attention to volunteer development, fundraising, event execution and logistics. The position will report to the Director of Operations and Development.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with fundraising and special events; create and maintain documents, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Conduct prospecting research for funding opportunities: individual, foundation, and corporate.
  • Help maintain donor relationships through donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts.
  • Mange volunteer database, recruit event volunteers, and execute various volunteer events through the year
  • Assist event committees and Director soliciting/collecting/curating auction packages and plan/execute logistics for both fundraising events, Owl Ride for Jackson and Ping Pong Ball.
  • Assist Director with the NICU Transportation Program by providing orientation packets and holiday gifts to hospitals.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in development work and stewardship or donor relations.
  • Exceptional written communication skills required.
  • Must be able to multi-task, remain organized and demonstrate a high level of initiative both individually and as a team member.
  • Easily navigates technology - proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and other desktop publishing tools.
  • Must have prior experience with fundraising software and online technologies, including event management and email marketing.
  • Must be self-motivated and be able to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills as well as creativity and resourcefulness.
  • Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs.

  • Job Type: Part-time (20 hours per week)
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, weekend and evenings as required
