What is the Jewish Learning Fellowship?

The Jewish Learning Fellowship (JLF) is unlike any Jewish learning you have done before and on top of that, it’s a great way to make Jewish friends! JLF gathers small groups of students to talk about things that matter to them! Each week we focus on topics relevant to navigating college life and what Judaism (and you, and your peers!) have to say about them. Taking part in JLF is an awesome way to make friends, explore Judaism, and enjoy delicious snacks each week. This opportunity is open to anyone from any Jewish background or level of experience with Jewish learning. JLF meets once a week over the course of 8 weeks.

As a Jewish Learning Fellow, we'll invite you to coffee, spend a Shabbat together, and help you feel connected to the next steps after JLF. Fellows are eligible for a scholarship at the end of the program.

This semester we will offer:

JLF 1.0: Life’s Big Questions- for first time participants of JLF. You're in college. So, you're an adult now, right? Feel like you should have all the answers? JLF brings together a group of students trying to figure out how to be adults, and what place Jewishness has in all this. We'll ask and answer questions like, How do I make friends? What can I expect in a sexual relationship? How can I cope with conflict? What do I actually believe in? As in, Who do I want to become? Recommended for first-year students; open to all undergraduates who have not previously participated in JLF.

JLF 2.0 (for anyone who has completed JLF 1.0):

Sex, Love, and Relationships: Let's talk about sex, Jewishly. For many of us sexuality and intimacy are some of the issues that matter most but around which we receive the least guidance. We will aim to explore sexual ethics and the ever-elusive notion of intimacy in a way that honors our minds and bodies and respects our position as modern, thoughtful adults.

Home and Homeland: Do you have deep, burning questions about Israel and how to relate to it as a Jewish college student? Then Israel: Home & Homeland is for you! This JLF 2.0 curriculum brings students together to ask and answer powerful questions about what it means to live life as a Jewish adult, such as: When do I feel at home? Who are my people? What does it mean to be a minority within the broader society?
