Well, That Escalated Quickly: Plot & Action in Flash Fiction

How do we balance character interiority with action? How absurd can one get without losing sight of the story? In this generative workshop, we'll read and discuss flash fiction with an emphasis on plot escalation and learn how to write flash that moves. Participants will be given class time to write as well as the option to share work in a supportive group setting.

Instructor: Christopher Gonzalez is the author of the story collection I'm Not Hungry but I Could Eat, forthcoming from SFWP in fall 2021. His writing has appeared in the NationCatapult, the MillionsBest Small Fictions 2019, and elsewhere. He is a fiction editor at Barrelhouse and lives in Brooklyn, NY, but mostly on Twitter @livesinpages.

Details: Well, That Escalated Quickly: Plot & Action in Flash Fiction takes place Wednesdays August 18 & 25 and September 1 & 8 from 6:30-8:30pm remotely through Zoom.
