Turtle Creek Invasive Species Monitoring

Saturday, June 17, 10 AM - 12 PM: Wading at Nature at the Confluence (South Beloit, IL)

Learn to search for New Zealand mudsnails and other aquatic invasive species. We will wade in and walk along Turtle Creek to practice our invasive species monitoring skills. All are welcome. No experience or equipment is required, and those who cannot enter the water are welcome to participate from shore. Parent/guardian supervision is required for youth under the age of 16. Rain date is Saturday, June 24, 10 AM - 12 PM.

 

Saturday, July 15, 9 AM - 12:30 PM: Paddling Turtle Creek, Highway 140 to Sweet Allyn Park (Beloit, WI)

Search for New Zealand mudsnails and other invasive species as we paddle this beautiful stretch of Turtle Creek. We strongly encourage paddlers to join us for the wading session on June 17 to become familiar with monitoring procedures. Bring your own kayak/canoe; paddling experience is required, and parent/guardian supervision is required for youth under the age of 16. Rain date is Sunday, July 23, 1:00 - 4:30 PM.

All are welcome for the wading event on June 17. Those attending the paddling event on July 15 are strongly encouraged to attend the wading event as well to learn about monitoring procedures. Paddlers must also have experience paddling and provide their own kayak/canoe.
