In this three-session educational course, learners use photographs to tell stories. The target age group is upper-elementary and middle-school students, grades 5–8.
The first two sessions (The Purpose of Photographs and Photographs Tell Stories) are for in-class use. They can be used independently or as preparation for the third session — an intergenerational family program.
The 9-page guide includes:
- Materials, room setup, and timing
- Exploration of different kinds of photos
- Objective and subjective observation
- The tradition of Jewish storytelling and how to use photographs as storytelling
- Detailed guidance for leading a 90-minute intergenerational built on taking photos around the building that tell a personal story for participants’ families
- Links to videos and resources with background about using photos to tell stories
