Program Requirements

This program is being offered through a generous grant from the City of Sacramento. The follow requirements are established by the City of Sacramento for this program.

If you do not live in the City of Sacramento you are not eligible for the Sacramento Sustainability Academy.

Applicants must be at least 16 years old and less than 30 years old. Age will be verified prior to offer of employment.

If you are not between the ages of 16-30 you are not eligible for the Sacramento Sustainability Academy.

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements.

Are you unemployed?

Have looked for work sometime in the past 12 months?

Are you employed part time but who want and are available for full-time work?

Are you employed but seeking a position with greater opportunities for economic advancement?

If you have not experienced any of the above employment issues you are not eligible for the Sacramento Sustainability Academy.

Program Eligibility

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements. If your address is within the highlighted section than you qualify.

Reside in a low- or moderate-income household

Reside in a household that experienced unemployment

Reside in a household that experienced increased food or housing insecurity

Reside in a household that is receiving services from Tribal governments

Reside within a Qualified Census Tract (a low-income area as designated by the Department of Housing and Urban Development [HUD])

Reside in a household that qualifies for the following federal assistance Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Free and Reduced Price School Lunch and Breakfast, Head Start, Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, Section 8 Vouchers, or Pell Grant.

Driving will be required for supervisors. Our insurance requires all SSP drivers to be licensed for at least two years by June 2023. All supply, project, and home repair coordinators are required to have a driver's license. We are only able to hire a limited number of nondrivers for food service and program coordinator positions.
