2023 Summer Event Sign-Up

Salt Pond Safaris:

Dates: Saturdays, July 8 (full), July 22, July 26, August 5, and August 12. August 12 is at capacity. All at 10:00 AM
Location: Ninigret Wildlife Refuge

Hands-on experience which introduces children and their families to a variety of aquatic creatures living in the salt ponds. Program is free. Please pre-register as space is limited. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Directions to Ninigret Wildlife Refuge: Ninigret Pond, Charlestown, RI. GPS: 5 Park Lane, Charlestown, RI. From there, continue to follow signs for the Wildlife Refuge.


Guided Paddle Tour:

Date: Saturday, July 29, 9:00 AM
Location: Ninigret Wildlife Refuge

Join SPC as we explore the beauty of Ninigret Pond. This approximately 1.5 hour tour will highlight some of the notable ecological and historical areas on the pond. Program is free. Please pre-register. Must bring own equipment. Life jacket required.

Directions to Ninigret Wildlife Refuge: Ninigret Pond, Charlestown, RI. GPS: 5 Park Lane, Charlestown, RI. From there, continue to follow signs for the Wildlife Refuge. Follow signs for Kayak Ramp. Drop kayak by launch, park car in large refuge lot.


Guided Beach Walk:

Date: Tuesday, August 1, 6:30 PM
Location: Quonochontaug East Beach

Join SPC President, Art Ganz, on a guided beach walk where he will discuss barrier beach ecology and how to protect our beautiful Rhode Island beaches. Program is free.

Directions to Quonochontaug East Beach Association Beach from Route 1:
Turn onto West Beach Road, turn left onto Sea Breeze Avenue, turn right onto Highland Road. Entrance is located at the end of Highland Road in Charlestown, RI.
