After reviewing the criteria for a nomination, fill out the information on the person or organization that is nominating the individual or Organization, depending on the category; then fill in the information about the nominee. Once completed submit the application. There is no cost.
Any serving police officer or public official, any retired within 3 years of March 2017 may be submitted for nomination based on the criteria outlined. Submission for nominations close on May 26, 2017.

The Order of International Police and Public Safety was established to recognize those most extraordinary individuals who are in law enforcement and public safety, in the name of those officers who perished on 9/11, and other first responders worldwide who too gave their lives due to acts of terrorism and terrorist activty. The individual or organization nominated must have demonstrated the highest in moral character and demonstrated distinguished achievement as it relates to their work for act of heroism, prevention, other specific acts, projects or lifetime work in relation to fighting terrorism and or serious and transnational crime.
There are eleven eligible categories. The 9/11 Committee may select up to three individuals* per category each year. In order to be eligible the individual must be an active, retired or deceased officer within three years of 2017; and must be an officer or official working in law enforcement or public safety from a public/government organization. *If in the case of heroism there are more than one individual involved, then a single nomination can support those multiple individuals involved and if substantiated, each would be awarded a 9/11 Medal. With the exception of Lifetime Achievement, nominations may be made for a specific act or an accumulated time period.

*Retired recipients need to be supported by individual's authority.
