Dear Elected Leaders,
I’m frustrated to learn that a package of solutions that would move 10,000 more people per hour, increase safety for all, keep our economy thriving, and move us towards a stable climate has been delayed. The region spent two years and millions of dollars crafting a bold solution to downtown Seattle’s impending mobility crisis. Since 4th Ave protected bike lanes have been delayed, please build other parts of the Basic Bike Network sooner.
Bike lanes are not just an amenity that 21st century companies demand; the city forecasts that over 110,000 daily trips will be made by bike by 2023 if bike lanes are not delayed. That’s 110,000 frozen-fish-proof trips.
I urge you to build out the Basic Bike Network as soon as possible so that we can move forward together as a city and a region.
