08/26/23 - Apple harvest at Linden Orchard Park

Date and time: 08/26/23 from 10-1pm

Location: Linden Orchard Park (Linden Ave N & N 67th St, Seattle, WA 98103)

Join us for an apple harvest at Linden Orchard Park! Purchased in 2001 by Seattle Parks, the property that became Linden Orchard Park had been vacant and unused orchard for over 50 years.  It was covered in ivy, morning glories, and Himalayan blackberries.  Over the next two years, the neighborhood worked to remove the invasive plants, built a community garden, and restored the apple trees lining the park’s walkway.  Today, the P-Patch is home to 25 garden plots and a cob tool shed — the first cob building in Seattle.

City Fruit will bring gloves and equipment for volunteers to use during the workparty, but folks are always welcome to bring their own! Come prepared for rain or shine with water and dressed in closed toed shoes and clothes you are comfortable getting potentially a little dirty!

We are always excited to work with our volunteers, and it is through volunteer support that we are able to harvest from and steward our public fruit trees! If you know that you can no longer attend an event with us, letting us know as soon as possible by emailing Tiare at tiare@cityfruit.org helps us invite volunteers on the waitlist and, particularly with time sensitive or collaborative projects, helps us plan around staff and volunteer capacity and honor our time with community partners.
