Second Saturday Workday: Finish the New Trail at Hobbs Farm

On Saturday, May 14 we will gather at Hobbs Farm on Foxes Ridge Road in Acton to work on the trail from the new, off-road parking area. The leaders of this workday will be Carl Davis and Cheri Dunning.

When and Where?
The group will meet at 9:00 AM at the new Hobbs Farm parking area, which is about 800' southeast from the old entrance and 300' northwest from house #755. Here is a Google Map link to the location of the new parking lot.

We plan to work even in light rain. If the weather is questionable, look for updates on Facebook or contact Cheri at cheri@3rlt.org.

What Needs Doing?
Tasks at Hobbs Farm will include lopping branches, cutting stumps flush with the ground, and removing logs and sticks from the trail. If conditions are dry, we might also work on marking the new route with paint blazes. If time permits, we might walk the rest of the loop trail, reaching a spur trail to the marsh overlook.

What to Bring and Wear:
Sturdy shoes for rough-trail walking
Work gloves
Loppers and/or a hand-saw (we will have some spares)
Water bottle/hydration
Sunblock (the leaves might not be out yet)
Bug spray

Please also dress to protect against ticks. Having pant legs tucked into socks and a shirt tucked into pants is a great first line of defense against ticks, as you have a better chance of seeing them before they get to your skin.

Questions?
Email Cheri Dunning at cheri@3rlt.org or (207) 358-9695 (call/text). Thank you, and we'll see you on the trail!
