ANCA CONNECTS: DEI Discussion Group

This group is a space for ANCA members and non-members to come together to discuss relevant DEI resources, deepen our DEI learning, find support and inspiration from each other, and make plans for action. The group will gather to discuss a particular theme with opportunities to explore your own topics. The idea is that whatever format works best for you, you’ll have a way to engage! Check out this Padlet bulletin board for shared resources and to get the conversation started.

You may use this form to register for any or all of the following programs:

Wednesday, May 15, 2024 - What Does Equitable Engagement Mean for YOUR Nature Center?
10-11:30am AKT / 11am-12:30pm PT / 12-1:30pm MT / 1-2:30pm CT / 2-3:30pm ET

Everyone talks about engaging with their community, equitable access to the outdoors,
getting kids outside...but what does that actually mean? Let’s talk about it! Discuss
how The Discovery Center in Philadelphia uses “Standards of Excellence” to engage the
community around them, and the steps Mitchell Lake Audubon Center in San Antonio is
taking to be a conservation action center for everyone. We want to hear what steps your
center is taking to engage equitably.
Facilitators:
• Sara Beesley, Director, Mitchell Lake Audubon Center
• Damien Ruffner, Audubon Program Manager, The Discovery Center

ANCA CONNECTS bring together nature and environmental learning center leaders who share a common challenge or who represent a specific type of organization. They are available to ANCA Members and non-members.
