Reef Check is working at several sites along the California coast to restore the massive and devastating loss of kelp. We work in collaboration with commercial sea urchin divers, Reef Check volunteers, community volunteers, government agencies, and other nonprofit organizations to develop a restoration ‘toolkit’ as well as to provide economic benefits to communities hit hardest by the loss of the kelp forest. 98% of Reef Check runs on a volunteer basis, so the value of each dollar donated is multiplied by the work of hundreds of volunteers committed to conserving our incredible coast.
