Nations Ministry Center will conduct a background check on volunteers 18 and older. The agency asks that volunteers consider paying for the cost of their background check. An opportunity to donate this cost will be sent to applicants by Nations Ministry Center.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Summer programming at Nations Ministry Center is a blast! This summer, youth will go on a health and wellness exploration to learn about how to take care of ourselves mentally, socially, emotionally, and physically. Volunteers are welcome to join the fun as refugee children receive reading help, play fun games, and build STEM projects. Nations Academy will meet at Hillcrest United Methodist Church on June 3 - July 11. There are two roles that volunteers can serve. Please check the one(s) you are interested in:
Volunteers choose 1-2 days that work best for them and serve on a weekly basis. This consistency helps students and volunteers grow in their relationship. Which day(s) are you available to serve every week? Please note that the volunteer coordinator will reach out to confirm your volunteer schedule with you based on your availability and the program's needs.
Please check the time window(s) in which you are available to volunteer. The volunteer coordinator will confirm timing with you as summer program schedule details.

We understand that your service requirements are unique. Please communicate any needs you have prior to volunteering at Nations Academy. (This could include any special projects, minimum time requirements, or other expectations as set by your professor or teacher.)
Nations Ministry Center is not responsible for retrieving hours that were not logged on the volunteer's part for required service hours. If you wish to report your hours for official report to a school or other institution, you are required to sign in for each shift served at all Nations Ministry Center sites. Instructions will be given for this procedure during the orientation process. Additionally, individuals who are required to submit their service hours through an outside school portal for credit must do that within a week after their service date. Hours submitted more than a week after actual service date will only be approved at the Volunteer Coordinator's discretion. To guarantee that your service hours are approved, volunteers should understand it is their responsibility to track their service hours in a timely, considerate fashion: within a week after the service date.

Policies and Permissions

Nations Ministry Center will provide a volunteer orientation and opportunities for additional training for volunteers. We will provide the opportunity for satisfaction surveys for volunteers as well as grievance procedures as requested for both volunteer and agency. We will protect all volunteers privacy and will destroy the portion of any forms and background checks that contain private information. Choosing to volunteer with Nations Ministry Center, all volunteers assume responsibility for themselves and their personal belongings while they are in our center or working with our clients.
Refugees are people who have endured the loss of their homeland, way of life, and dignity. They may have suffered great tragedies with their families and have been victims of persecution and torture. Respect the privacy of the refugee/s with whom you are matched. They may not want the stories they share with you shared with others. 2. Safeguard the confidentiality of the refugees by not making their names, stories and personal circumstances public in any fashion without their consent. This includes the use of photographs and information in news stories for church bulletins, corporate newsletters and local papers. 3. Hold in strict confidence any information of a sensitive nature shared by the case manager.
