Flamenco Poetry - October 2022

Join ABREPASO flamenco, Literary Cleveland, and Julia de Burgos CAC to explore how the lyrics of flamenco are a window not only into flamenco, but also into the human experience. The music and dance of flamenco revolve around the lyrics and can help elucidate flamenco. Participants will also be invited to write their own flamenco verse.

Instructor: Alice Blumenfeld is the founder and artistic director of ABREPASO flamenco. The company’s name means to break open space and their mission is to deepen appreciation for flamenco and create original flamenco choreography, finding new entry points into and new pathways within the art form. Recognitions include an Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award for Choreography (FY20), a Young Arts Silver winner, and a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts. She has performed nationally and internationally and her workshops have been lauded by schools and universities across the U.S.

Details: Flamenco Poetry - October 2022 takes place Saturdays October 1, 8, and 22 at 10am-12pm at Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center (2800 Archwood Ave, Cleveland, OH 44109).
