About

The SPUR Community Roots Garden at St. Andrew's produces fresh, organic produce to benefit area food pantries and community programs, providing those in need a healthy addition to items available at food pantries.

Our Community Roots Garden is a tangible way to connect with one another and bridge the gap for those who may have barriers accessing healthy food, free of toxins and grown with a whole lot of love.

Ways to Support:

Fund a 4' x 20' in ground bed: Sponsorship helps cover organic soil and compost, timber edging, irrigation, soil, some plantings.  $300 ea (2 sponsors needed)

Fund a 8' x 3' raised bed: Sponsorship will cover raised bed container, organic soil & compost, crushed stone for drainage under container, irrigation and some plantings. $600 ea (6 sponsors needed)

Fund a 30" round raised bed: Sponsorship will cover raised bed container, organic soil & compost, crushed stone for drainage under container, irrigation and some plantings. $150 ea (8 sponsors needed)

Fund a squash mound: Sponsorship will cover organic soil and compost, irrigation and some plantings. $50 ea (4 sponsors needed)

Fund vegetable packs: While we anticipate approximately half of the garden to be contributed from volunteers on planting day, we do expect to purchase quite a bit of vegetables. Your sponsorship will provide resources for bridging the gap and purchasing remaining vegetable needed, as well as provide us the ability to extend the growing season by obtaining additional plants as the season moves into the late summer and fall. $25 ea (20 sponsors needed)

Fund flower packs: Attracting beneficial insects and deterring pests and deer will be key to the success of the garden.  In addition to function, the garden will be proudly displayed on the front of St. Andrew's lawn, some would say the front door to Marblehead as individuals enter on Lafyette Street from Salem.  Please help us secure the necessary resources to purchase the flowers needed to keep away the critters, attract the pollinators and ensure the garden is aesthetically pleasing. $25 ea (20 sponsors needed)

Fund herb packs: Herbs are the spice of life, well at least in our garden. When delivering produce to the pantry we would love the opportunity to also contribute fresh herbs for clients of local food pantries and programs to incorporate in their cooking. $25 ea (20 sponsors needed)

Curb the critters: Any home gardener can tell you the critters, rabbits and deer can be devastating to the production of the harvest.  Please help secure the bounty by contributing toward the garden fence.  $75 ea (20 sponsors needed)
