Land Trust Board Member Lizeth Garcia Garcia offers a unique opportunity to participate in a Spanish-language guided tour of Sowams Woods on Sat., May 18, at 10 am. Experience this network of public trails, considered sacred by the Pokanoket people, and invite your friends and family who speak Spanish or are seeking to improve their listening and speaking of the language.
The terrain is gentle but may be wet in places. The distance is about 2 miles round-trip. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy, water-resistant footwear. We'll keep moving at a moderate pace and be finished in about an hour and a half.
We'll meet and park in the dirt parking area at the juncture of North Lake Drive and South Lake Drive in Barrington, RI. If you use GPS to find the location, be aware that it may direct you toward the other end of South Lake Drive, which is no longer accessible by car. You should access the location via Middle Highway.
