Our work has quickly changed in recent weeks to help meet the needs of our community in response to COVID-19. The Seacoast Area Mobile Market has shifted from regular market stops towards making donations of fresh local food to senior housing communities and food pantries. These donations allow individuals and families to access a variety of fresh locally grown food completely free of charge. This food is being purchased directly from small farms and producers who are also affected by the economic impacts of COVID-19. It is a true win-win for both producers and consumers.
We're also working to keep SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) incentive programs operating at farmers' markets and expanding the total number of SNAP acceptance sites to include many Seacoast area farm stands. Our goal is to provide SNAP and matching incentives at as many direct-to-consumer retail outlets as possible. With many people losing their income, an increasing population qualifies for SNAP benefits.
Your donations will directly help our ability to make food donations to those in need as well as implement SNAP programs and farmers' markets and farm stands. We're all in this together and we appreciate the support you have for members of your community!
