Introduction to Essay Writing

Essays can come in many forms and draw from personal experience, observation, research,  reflection, contemporary issues and more. This four-week workshop is designed to help you get started with essay writing. Together we’ll take a crash course in the craft of essay writing, read examples of the form, and generate new material with writing prompts. 

Instructor: Jason Harris is an educator, writer, and Watering Hole Fellow. He is the 2020-2021 Barbara Smith Writer-in-Residence. His first full-length collection of poems is forthcoming from Twelve Arts Press. Read more of his work at
