Winter is a season for rest in the natural world. Shorter days, longer nights and cooler weather invite us to slow down and to journey inward. Take time out from the holiday hustle to reconnect to your body and your soul. Join us for a time of gentle yoga as we join body and breath through moving meditation and reflect on the seasonal invitations that winter offers.

WHY YOGA?

Yoga is a form of embodied prayer that enables us to deepen the connection between our minds, hearts and bodies. Through simple poses linking movements with breath, we can reduce stress, increase flexibility and strength, and improve respiration, energy and vitality. The gentle yoga offered in this session will be accessible to all levels. If you have specific physical challenges, including limited capacity to get up and down from the floor, please let us know when you register.

WHY SOLSTICE?

Landing within the season of Advent, a time of sacred waiting for the coming of the Light of the world, the winter solstice marks the shortest day and longest night of the year. It’s an ideal time to release obstacles and stressors that block our capacity to see the light amidst the darkness. And to focus our attention on welcoming the light of Christ more deeply into our holiday activities.

Bring: yoga mat, beach towel or blanket
