Elementary Achiever Marketplace

What started as a Lemonade Stand has grown to so much more!

This summer our Elementary Achievers spent their Wednesdays participating in Maker Projects as part of our Junior Entrepreneurship Program. They have come a long way from squeezing lemons and learning the basics of business planning while supporting their math skills.

Based on the success of last year’s Market Place which of course still saw them making lemonade with the addition of paintings and bracelets; this year’s Junior Entrepreneurship program saw them really learning to build and create! They got to use some of the new apparatus (bullets below) in our Maker Space.

Water Bottle Design

The water bottle designers were most interested in creating artwork to display their ideas on something that would both help them reduce plastic waste and utilize an everyday use object.

  • Drawing designs, scanning, and printing them on sublimation paper
  • Using water bottle sublimation heat press and sublimation printer

Candle Making

The candle making crew used it as an opportunity to create custom candles while experimenting with wax, fragrance, and colors in the kitchen. They even designed their own labels!

  • Using stove top double boilers and scales for measuring

Jewelry Making

For those making necklaces and bracelets, one of our young men wanted to try something new and make some pieces for his loved ones to wear. He inspired his fellow Achievers to also want to share their creations with loved ones in their families!

  • Using pliers and hand tools to cut wire and using beads
