Transition & Transformation: Writing for Self-Discovery

It has been said that a person doesn't know what they think until they start writing it down. Writing is a process of self-discovery, and this class will provide a deep dive into transformative writing, using in-class writing exercises and week-to-week writing assignments to reveal fascinating aspects of each participant's unique personality.

Note: This class is specifically for those who have served in the United States Armed Forces or military.

This class is presented in partnership with the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System. For more information, please contact a Whole Health Team Member at (216) 791-3800 ext. 62257 or 62394.

Instructor: DL Ware is a community based poet and writer, a literacy advocate and literary artist in Southeast Cleveland’s Buckeye, Woodland Hills, and Mt. Pleasant neighborhoods. He has a Masters of English with a concentration in poetry from CSU. Since 2010, D.L. Ware has used his love for the literary arts as means to bring communities together.  In 2018 D.L. developed and led a weekly creative writing workshop called “Veterans’ Voices,” a 9-week creative writing workshop designed to encourage and support US Military Veterans to write and share their military experiences as a community. Husband and father of 3 boys, D.L. finds the act of writing to be healthy and therapeutic and makes time to write daily.
