Michigan Mock Trial Volunteer Sign Up 2022

Thank you in advance for contributing to the development of young legal minds. This form serves to sign up as a volunteer for MCCE's regional and state final events.

Thank you for your patience as the MCCE Board of Directors, the MCCE Programming Committee, the National High School Mock Trial Board of Directors, numerous courthouses, and additional volunteers worked together to develop a plan for the 2022 season.

At this time, all MCCE regional events and the state finals (including the companion programs) will be virtual. This was the best decision with the information available to best protect the health of the students, teachers, coaches, volunteers, and staff while working to maintain competitive equity. It is with great hope to be back in person for summer workshops, the fall clinics, and the 2023 season. We took a nod from the legal community and local public health departments to adapt to the virtual world and provide that experience for 2022.   We will work to provide a student reception and an adult reception as well. Please stay tuned for those updates.

Thank you for your continued commitment to your civic communities. We look forward to seeing you online.

Releases

I agree to the adult and volunteer code of conduct. By registering, I acknowledge full compliance with the Adult Code of Conduct for myself, coaches, and adults I bring into the event space. This is inclusive of the MCCCE policies as well as the National High School Mock Trial Championship (NHSMTC) code of conduct. A full copy of the the MCCE Code can be reviewed here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1IMsCQG4H9Kxpx8vZgmde7AaZE0h0og8JQ2u695GrAbw/edit?usp=sharing. By registering I also agree to work with my students to represent a school (if relevant), my profession, the NHSMTC, and MCCE with personal, professional, and academic integrity.
I understand I will need to attend an orientation prior to volunteering to ensure I understand what is expected for the virtual hearings. (This isn't different from year's past - just that there will be more options to attend an orientation in advance of the hearing day.)
I acknowledge the Michigan Center for Civic Education (MCCE), the State Bar of Michigan (SBM), the National High School Mock Trial Championship, and the schools involved may use the likeness, images, video, and names of students and adults affiliated with my participation. I understand the above may be used for press releases, MCCE social media, school communications, video promotions, sponsor recognition and reporting, and other related communications. Should a student, school, or volunteer choose to withdraw from this agreement, the school or participant has an affirmative obligation to submit written notification to MCCE staff who will sign the document if in person or send a communication in writing (email) prior to the beginning of an event.
I understand the content of my ballot will be shared with students, coaches, and community members and will write them with positive, wise, and constructive feedback. This is for all MCCE and NHSMTC events.
