Donate to the Northwest Community Bail Fund!

The Northwest Community Bail Fund (NCBF) uses your donations to remove people who cannot afford cash bail from the stress and harms of incarceration while awaiting trial.

Pretrial incarceration negatively impacts health, due to rapid spread of viruses like flu and COVID, combined with reduced access to medical care, medications and mental health treatments. As new COVID variants continue to surface, jails are resorting to punitive and damaging measures such as lock downs, placing people in solitary confinement and limiting access to visits from loved ones.

Spending time in jail is associated with increased exposure to violence, including assault, rape, murder and suicide, while simultaneously damaging work and social connections, and increasing the pressure to plead guilty. The unintended consequences can be lasting and are not shown to improve public safety.

We support participatory budgeting that will increase access to shelter and a broad range of treatment, and we reject the narrative that jails and policing will keep us safe. We have decades of experience to teach us otherwise.

We are a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, EIN 83-1096468. We currently operate in King, Snohomish, and Pierce Counties in Washington State. Donations to NCBF are tax deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law.
