Formation: The Design Mentorship Collaborative

Make an Online Donation

Would you like to see a more diverse Portland design community? Do you want to support local college design students to take the big step from school into their chosen profession? If so, this is your chance to make a difference! Diversity in Design, in partnership with the Architecture Foundation of Oregon and COMMA has created the first-ever design-centered BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) mentorship program in Portland. By becoming a sponsor, you can help us launch our pilot year in 2024.

The program, called Formation, will match up local BIPOC college juniors and seniors studying design (graphic, interior, product, architecture, you name it - any form of design that shapes and influences the environment and allows us to experience the visual, audible, tactile, emotional, and physical space around us) with established BIPOC design professionals in our community. Our goal is to help our students build relationships and their professional network so they can thrive in the industry once they’ve graduated.

Any contribution is welcome, and you may use this form to make your online donation. Prefer to pay by check or a different payment method? Please fill out our Commitment Form instead and we will follow up with next steps. Funds raised will be managed by AFO, so they are tax deductible. Sponsor benefits will range from logo display to event tickets and more, so stay tuned!

Thank you in advance, we so appreciate your support - welcome to the Formation Family!
