New Canaan Land Trust's Annual Meeting on September 7th

Join the New Canaan Land Trust for our Annual Meeting on September 7th.

2:30 PM: NCLT Annual Meeting

3:15 PM: David Sibley presents What It's Like to Be a Bird

From UV vision, to deep diving, navigation, balance, super-efficient breathing, and more - birds have some amazing "superpowers," and at the same time nearly every aspect of their anatomy, physiology, and behavior has been shaped in some way by the demands of their ultimate superpower - flight. Using a selection of illustrations and information from his new book "What It's Like to be a Bird", David will talk about some of the incredible things birds are able to do, and the adaptations that make those things possible. David will also discuss the effects of the biodiversity crisis on birds and how bird-building collisions and cats impact bird populations.

Followed by a Q&A, book signing, and a wine and cheese reception.

  • NCLT Annual Meeting attendees receive priority seating for David Sibley's Library presentation
  • You must also register with the New Canaan Library to attend David Sibley's presentation and the wine and cheese reception following the talk
