This presentation is designed around safe and brave practices and research conducted by the facilitator as well as informed by prior scholars such as Pennebaker and DeSalvo. Cassandra holds a Master's in Social Work and has facilitated over a dozen writing and therapeutic groups, giving her the experience and tools to ensure the course is inclusive, accessible, anti-racist, and welcoming for all who attend.
Instructor: Cassandra Lawton is a graduate of the Northeast Ohio Master of Fine Arts program. With a Master’s in social work and an MFA, she researches the healing benefits of creative writing in therapeutic and community spaces. She serves as the Editor-In-Chief of Jenny Magazine. She has fiction published or forthcoming in Bridge: The Bluffton Literary Journal, Rubbertop Review, and Straylight Magazine, nonfiction published in Entropy and Anomaly, and poetry published or forthcoming in Volney Road Review, I Become The Beast, and Laurel Review.
