Using Music to Inspire Writing

Ekprhrasis, a Greek word meaning "description", usually applies to a marriage of visual art and writing. What happens when music is used as a prompt to write? This course will challenge writers to compose poetry, fiction, or nonfiction inspired by music and musicians who choose to take the course to compose music intended to inspire words. This ekphrastic approach will serve as a catalyst for creatives to stretch the boundaries of their craft. It will motivate participants to write work that addresses social, cultural, and political topics, as well as introspective works, inspired by live and pre-recorded instrumental music.

Vince Robinson is a multi-genre artist, having given time to evolving in music, the visual imagery of photography and the magic of words in poem and song.
