Parents, guardians and/or grandparent volunteers make a huge difference in the success of Hershey Montessori School.  We invited you to be a volunteer in your area of interest. We ask a few questions below to help match your interest with projects during the year.  We've also listed some of the biggest projects and ongoing opportunities to lend a hand.  We know how busy you are and we appreciate any and all time that you can share with us.

To comply with Ohio state law, all volunteers who work directly with students (i.e. drivers, chaperones) must have a background check on file with the school.  This can be obtained from any Ohio Web Check location, including most license bureaus, for $30-$35.  If you have not lived in Ohio for the past 5 consecutive years you will need the Ohio BCI + FBI background check for approximately $65.  See Leslie in the front office for their schedule and more details.

Whole School Volunteer Opportunities

  • Hershey Harvest Festival (Saturday, Sept. 28, 11:30am-3:00pm): This special family event will be an opportunity to celebrate Hershey Montessori School on the Huntsburg campus!  Many activities will need your assistance as parent volunteers.
  • The Hershey Cosmic Run! 5K & 1 Mile Run/Walk (Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019 at Observatory Park): Join in as a volunteer for our 5K and 1 mile family walk or run and help to make it a success.  There will be a variety of fun volunteer opportunities for this family friendly event before the race and day of the event.
  • Hershey Spring Gala (May 2, 2020 at the Union Club, Downtown Cleveland): Come and join a terrific and fun-loving group of parent volunteers to help with our biggest fundraiser of the year.  Any level of participation is welcome, and there are several different committees that work together for the event.  This is a wonderful way to meet other parents and make a big difference for the school!
  • General Whole School Events: Opportunities exist to help with food preparation and set-up and clean up for events.
  • General Office Assistance: Copying, assembling, organizing large mailings, packets, etc. as needed
  • Library Assistance: Helping children locate books, check books in and out, reshelf and straighten
  • Chicken Care: Care of the chickens during school breaks and winter weekends
  • Garden Care: Garden care during summer break
  • Areas of Expertise/Interests: Social Media, Computer Graphics and Design, Marketing, Photography, Arts and Crafts, Office Assistance, or any other area in which you would like to share your talents.
Parents can volunteer at any age level group
