The Art of the Story: Intermediate Fiction Workshop

This class is designed for students who have some experience with short story or novel writing and who are looking to deepen their fiction storytelling skills. In this workshop, we’ll complete writing exercises to enhance those skills, discuss craft in greater depth, and workshop 10 pages of your story (or story-in-progress) in a creative and supportive environment.

Instructor: Scott Lax is a novelist, short story author, essayist, screenwriter, movie producer, playwright and Lecturer in Screenwriting and Creative Writing at the Cleveland Institute of Art. His first novel, The Year That Trembled, was hailed as one of 1998’s “Milestones in Fiction” by The Denver Post. The Midwest Book Review called his second novel, Vengeance Follows, “A minor masterpiece of suspense and human nature.”

Fiction Workshop takes place Saturdays 3/7, 3/14, 3/21, & 3/28 from 10am-12pm at University Circle United Methodist Church (1919 E 107th St, Cleveland, OH 44106).
