Harassment Policy- Explorium– Denton Children's Museum has zero tolerance for sexual harassment. Any claims or comments will be legally reported. It is unlawful to harass a person (an applicant or employee) because of that person’s sex. Harassment can include “sexual harassment” or unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical harassment of a sexual nature. Harassment does not have to be of a sexual nature, however, and can include offensive remarks about a person’s sex. For example, it is illegal to harass a woman by making offensive comments about women in general. Both victim and the harasser can be either a woman or a man, and the victim and harasser can be the same sex. Although the law doesn’t prohibit simple teasing, offhand comments, or isolated incidents that are not very serious, harassment is illegal when it is so frequent or severe that it creates a hostile or offensive work environment or when it results in an adverse employment decision (such as the victim being fired or demoted). The harasser can be the victim's supervisor, a supervisor in another area, a co-worker, or someone who is not an employee of the employer, such as a client or customer.
Explorium Denton intends to provide a safe and drug-free work environment for our families and our employees. With this goal in mind and because of the serious drug abuse problem in today's workplace, the following policies are established for not only volunteers, but employees alike. Explorium Denton explicitly prohibits:
Prohibited is the use, possession, solicitation for, or sale of narcotics or other illegal drugs, alcohol, or prescription medication without a prescription on Explorium Denton or customer premises or while performing an assignment.
Prohibited is being impaired or under the influence of legal or illegal drugs or alcohol away from the Explorium Denton or customer premises, if such impairment or influence adversely affects the volunteer's work performance, the safety of the volunteer/employee or of others, or puts at risk the Explorium's reputation.
Prohibited is the possession, use, solicitation for, or sale of legal or illegal drugs or alcohol away from the Explorium Denton or customer premises, if such activity or involvement adversely affects the volunteer's work performance, the safety of the employee or of others, or puts at risk the Explorium's reputation.
Prohibited is the presence of any detectable amount of prohibited substances in the volunteer's system while at work, while on the premises of the Explorium Denton or its customers, or while on Explorium Denton business. "Prohibited substances" include illegal drugs, alcohol, or prescription drugs not taken in accordance with a prescription given to the employee.
