In 2015 Bike Month participants contributed to the Kickapoo Rail Trail. And now we have Phase One of the KRT!
In 2016 cyclists raised money to purchase a fleet of 25 bicycles to use for Youth Bicycle Education Events all over Champaign County.
In 2017 our area cyclists raised funds for an Earn-A-Bike Program for youth in our community who needed a bike for basic transportation.
In 2018 we use funds collected during Bike Month to obtain and equip a Bike Fleet Trailer to transport our eduction bikes to schools and parks for Ed. programs.
In 2019 we are asking Bike Month participants to give generously to advance the several key Trail and Education Projects for our community.
Champaign County Bikes (CCB) board members and volunteers play an active role in planning and promoting our expanding trail network. In 2019 we will continue to expand awareness, use, and programming on the Kickapoo Rail Trail, while at the same time participating in the initial planning for new trails to run through our cities and connect to the university. Hosting trail workshops, taking local planning and engineering staff on road trips to see existing trails in neighboring communities, funding matching grants are some of our activities. Our Educational Partnerships with local schools, park districts, and the CU Safe Routes to School Project continue to expand. We will use funds to purchase additional educational bikes to use with kindergarten kids, as well as for adults, who are just learning to ride for the first time. We continue to expand our Earn-A-Bike program with area youth, and hope to begin working with groups like the Scouts.
Our suggested donation is $25, but feel free to give as little or much as you are able. (CCB is a 501c3 organization so your gift is tax-deductible, receipts will be auto-generated.) Thanks!
Donations are not required to participate in Bike to Work Day or any of the other Bike Month events.
