Tree Stewards Application

As a part of our Green Blocks: Parkland program, Tacoma Tree Foundation is offering a FREE Tree Stewards Training on Saturday, February 18!

This 5-hour training (10:00–3:00) will include information on tree selection, planting, and pruning young trees. Participants will also learn how to communicate about trees with their neighbors and how to organize a tree planting event.

Up to 12 tree stewards will get the skills they need to get directly involved in taking local action and engaging with their communities about sustainability and stewardship.

Participants will receive a $100 stipend. Snacks and lunch will be provided. Apply by February 8, 2023.

Tree Stewards are schooled in tree selection, planting, pruning young trees, and maintaining trees. They are ambassadors for trees in their neighborhoods through communications, organizing tree planting events, take local action and engage their communities in sustainable stewardship.

Volunteers at Tacoma Tree Foundation help out in various ways including planting trees, neighborhood canvasing and as event staff.

COVID-19 Symptoms: If indicating any of the following symptoms I will not attend the event: Fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle pain, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, stuffy or runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. Higher risk populations- Older adults (65 and over) and persons with severe pre-existing health conditions are thought to be at increased risk to COVID-19. We encourage you to assess your own personal risk to exposure and if volunteering is an appropriate activity for your age or health condition.
